All smileys in this list work on both self-hosted WordPress and WordPress.com websites (as long as smileys haven’t been disabled in the site admin, anyway).
To include a graphic smiley, type a colon immediately before and after the text. Make sure there’s a space immediately before and after, so the WordPress software sees it as a smiley.
